Yesterday I went on an open top bus tour of central London! My companions were my daughter, currently living there, my son a regular visitor, and my father who was born in the East End. We all know London pretty well, I lived there for six years in my youth, so why might you ask were we jumping on a tourist bus and sampling the capital’s sights with a host of visitors from abroad?
Well, my father loves London but can’t walk too far these days, so it was a great way for us all to spend time together in the capital without having to negotiate stairs, (apart from those on the bus itself and the drivers were very considerate) escalators, tubes and the sheer distance between places.
The weather smiled on us, we hopped off at the Southbank for a wander and a jug of pimms, then back on. It you’re ever thinking of indulging be warned, it takes a good while, there’s a lot of traffic, a lot of buses in fact but I guarantee it’ll be freshest air you’ll find in the city and you’ll be amazed by just how many lovely trees and green spaces London has.
