Last night was the first meeting of my Autumn Novel Group and today I am still excited, you might say buzzing from the experience. It was such a positive evening. In fact it took me some time to wind down and get to sleep!
I am especially fortunate in the writers I have on board- such different voices but all great writers with serious intent. We worked hard and we set ourselves some challenging goals for the twelve weeks ahead but I was certainly inspired by our discussions and the writing we shared; so much so that this morning I made some important decisions about the opening of my new novel.
Writing is a solitary occupation but sharing with other writers in an atmosphere of inclusivity and mutual respect brings great benefits. On a more personal note, last night reminded me of just how important a part of me, my inclination to share and enable is, and how much I still miss teaching.
