Poetry Garden Market

Basil Bunting quote – chiselled in stone – Durham Botanic Gardens

I love the idea of a Poetry Garden Market – like the one being held this weekend by Inpress books in London on the Southbank. What do you think?

I think we should have one in the North, but perhaps not just for poetry – maybe a Fiction Market. I really do think it’s a good idea but the trouble with good ideas is they often entail a lot of hard work to bring to fruition…

I wonder what a hand-tied poetry bouquet is? Whatever it is I like the sound of it.

And talking of sound because the music seemed so popular on Monday here’s Bob Dylan again – from Blood on the Tracks – If You See Her Say Hello

If you see me early next week it’s likely to be in  Northumberland and in particular on Holy Island (staying overnight -can’t wait, it should be magical)  back on Wednesday with some good news!

  1. Enjoy Holy Island, Avril, it’s a magical place. I can’t wait for Wednesday’s good news.
And yes, a Fiction Market would be wonderful.Perhaps when you have some spare time ………………

    1. Judging by your comments – many thanks Eileen and Warren – maybe a fiction market of some kind is a good idea – perhaps an evening to start with? You’ve got me thinking now. I’m going to mull it over…I definitely think writers need more opportunitites to read from their work, after all artists get to put theirs on the wall

  2. How about a fiction and music market, or even an evening. In the tradition of ye olde proper folk clubs where people could get up to play a song, recite a poem or read an extract of their work, even dance, comedy or act out a scene. Then at the end of the night everybody could put their car keys in a fruit bowl and erm . . .well no, that would be going too far !!! Anyhow, I’ll volunteer to help out in anyway if something of the idea gets off the ground.
