To France – then Home for a Garden Writing Festival

Wednesday Market in Agde

I am off to France! To the beautiful town of Agde in which I’ve spent many happy hours writing, walking along the canal du midi, cycling to the sea, browsing the markets, people watching in the cafes… and much more. But my stay will be shorter than usual as I will be returning in time for ‘the first ever festival of writing about gardens,‘ which will take place in the Barn Garden created by Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith at Serge Hill in Hertfordshire… on 29 and 30 June.’ And the reason I’m returning? I’ve been fortunate enough to be shortlisted as one of the final three writers for the garden inspired memoir competition, sponsored by Granta and the Garden Musuem. I wasn’t going to enter any more competitions but I just couldn’t resist this one (some of you may remember me featuring it in my weekly newsletter) as I’m such a garden fan.

I will be reading my work along with the other two finalists and that will be prize enough. It looks like a wonderful event – here’s hoping for sun!
