Hi everyone – if you joined me for Sunday’s Stay-At-Home Lit Fest – a big thank you. I may not have seen your face or read your comment if you made one – I could really only concentrate on the few faces directly in front of me, but it seems over 40 people participated, which was way beyond my expectation.
I was a bit apprehensive, never having done anything like it before, but I needn’t have been. What really surprised me was how connected I felt and just how much I enjoyed the experience. So much so that I celebrated later with a glass or two, maybe even three, of Prosecco! Unfortunately it was too cool here on Sunday to drink it in the garden which had been my plan. (Today however is a different matter, it was warm even at 8 a.m. when I went out for my walk and I’ve already had my coffee in the garden…)
The festival has been huge success and people are beginning to see it as a model for the future. According to feedback people have joined who’ve never been to literary festivals before (feeling they were not for them, or due to distance and cost)
It’s my fervent hope that this is one of those creative solutions to lockdown that are here to stay.
Stay tuned for tomorrow when I intend to publish some, if not all of my Renga diary
