Although Sometimes a River Song, did not make it to the Not the Booker shortlist I want to say a big thank you for your support and for all those who voted and posted a review. And all those who tried but found it somewhat tricky! This kind of support takes time and effort. So thank you again, it was a real gift for me to read what people had to say about the book and also to learn that it had, unkown to me, been nominated twice by different readers.
By way of thank you here is a round up of some of the writing opportunities for August/September – Its a long list so you need to click the continue reading arrow to see it ALL
I hope to offer this frequently, so do check in here from time to time – happy writing – Avril x

HALO literary magazine – theme for issue two is EMBERS.
‘A dying fire in a lonely room, one light in the middle of an endless forest. The single spark needed to set the world alight, the heat hidden deep inside – embers can be the start or end of everything.
For our autumn issue, we’re looking for flash fiction and art that captures the long shadows on the cave wall, the crackling that could be a twig snapping on the fire or something else entirely, and the sense of danger that might turn out to be nothing at all – if you’re lucky.
We want fiction that makes us draw nearer the fire, turn our back on the darkness, and hope the darkness does the same for us. Give us chills – not just the obvious kind – and make us question what we think we know.’ Submissions will close on 21st August at midnight GMT. MORE HERE
